Hello Everyone,

Welcome back for another edition of Musical Episode! Today’s mix was inspired by the sleeve on Young Hearts 45 which had a little pencil scribble that said “male vocal group sounds” and immediately got me excited for an hour long mix. You can imagine the coordinated steps, the matching blazers and synchronized clapping and snapping to these songs.

Magazine ad for The Young Hearts and their single “I’ve Got Love For My Baby” which spent a some time on the billboard charts in late 1968.

Most of today’s 45s are in the mid-60’s though a few 70’s sides made their way into the mix, tracing the transition from doo-wop groups, through soul outfits into the smoother sounds of the 70s. A good illustration of the change and continuity are the two tracks by The Coasters which were recorded a decade apart but are both great!

Detroit’s The Fabulous Peps cuttin a rug!

I hope you enjoy today’s mix and find a couple new tracks and please remember to get out and vote!

Peace,
-George / Snack Attack
