Back with another hour of 45s for you all today! I decided to give my “Jazz” crate some attention today outside of its relationship to soul compositions like Musical Episode #019.

I had always had a mix or two or three like this in the back of my mind from Dj’ing “cocktail receptions” and the like where I’m usually just playing Jazz 45s in case something went wrong or I needed to leave the table for a while. Though it’s been a while since I had that sort of need the idea hung around in my head and usually even when I love a 45 like one of the below, it’s usually hard to slip them into a regular podcast because the vibe is so different.

Anyhow, these records kind of jump all over from Hard Bop to Samba but it felt like a good mix while I was recording it and it’s been good listening the times I’ve gone back to it.

Featured in the mix are a lot of favorite performers of mine who will likely get some focus at a later date including the spectacular organist Shirley Scott and Joe Zawinul who had an amazing career.

Hope you enjoy this mix and look forward to our next meeting!

Peace,
-George / Snack Attack
