Welcome back for another Musical Episode! Today we have a solid hour of hard hitting and super funky 45s! Really excited to put this one together and jam pack 60 minutes with vamping horns, drum breaks and all the other elements of a certified funk freak out!

We’ve got a couple of artists who we doubled up on, pictured below and closing out the mix are the free spirited but ultra tight Bay Area outfit Marvin Holmes and The Uptights. “Ooh Ooh The Dragon” and “Ride Your Mule” are just incredible, punchy and super tight funk sides, the stuff you dream of when you’re out digging. I always love playing Ooh Ooh The Dragon and watching a crowd who is unfamiliar with the song follow the stops and starts and twists and turns. I can’t imagine how much fun they would have been to see live. We also have two sides by the Ohio based Soul Tornadoes. These two sides represent two of their three releases which is too bad because you can tell they had coming out of their ears!

We also have a couple of international sides with Osibisa the British based band made up of African and Caribbean expats along with the side by Cameroon born Manu Dibango. Both sides have their own flavor but fit in smoothly alongside the rest of the American artists.

Hope you enjoy today’s mix and we’ll see you back here next week for another hour! Next week is a cool diversion with an hour of reggae covers of soul songs!

Peace,
-George / Snack Attack
