Musical Episode #075 : Girl Group Sounds v.6

The Jellybeans are featured on today’s podcast of all Girl Group sounds with track “You’re The Kind of Boy I Can’t Forget” from 1963. This is the sixth all girl-group podcast we’ve done here, if you’re a fan, scroll back and check out the others!
  • Listen to this podcast on Mixcloud
  • Listen to this podcast as a Spotify playlist here (though note, spotify doesn’t have all / many of the songs featured on the site so some playlists may be incomplete or feature slightly different versions than the original 45s I’m referring to here.)

Happy to be back with another volume of Girl Group Sounds! This is the sixth installment and if I’m being honest I usually have to stop myself in between because these are some of my favorites to make. If you want to hear the earlier episodes they’re all here in a playlist.

I’ve said it before and it’s certainly true for this mix the “girl group” genre or idea is a bit vague and some of these tracks walk the line between soul, pop, r&b and other genres but I think the overall sound of these is cohesive enough to warrant the label and accompanying mix. Ultimately they’re all good records that I hope you enjoy! The other thing that’s worth noting about this mix is they’re not all the upbeat rompers the previous Girl Group Sounds mixes have leaned toward. There’s plenty of that to be had but a few slow numbers too. And if you’re a fan of ballads that mix will be coming soon enough!

Peace,

-George / Snack Attack
