Hello again everyone! Happy to have another podcast here for you. Today’s podcast was inspired by the Bo Kirkland and Ruth Davis “We Got The Recipe” the penultimate track on today’s mix. I was driving home and it came on my shuffle on my playlist and really hit the spot. Funky and smooth with a nice mid-tempo vibe. So I made a note to dig it out and kept rolling from there.
Barbara Mason’s version of Curtis’ “Give Me Your Love” is a scorcher, produced by the man himself she does the risky work of covering an already perfect song and she hits it out of the park. Lonnie Liston Smith’s “A Chance For Peace” is an evergreen plea for a world where everyone is free from violence and a favorite of mine. The Lena Horne track is from the tail end of the 60’s and Lee Dorsey’s super funky and syncopated Night People moves us close to the end of the 70s, all while keeping the recipe perfect!
