Musical Episode #067 : Play The Thing an hour of R&B infused 45s

Junior Wells, the incredible blues singer and harmonica player is featured on today’s podcast of R&B infused 45s.

Hello all, lots going on in the world and lots of it not so great so always happy to have you hear for a check in and to share in the love of some great music. This week we have an hour of 45s that all have a taste of R&B in their grooves, some are straight hard hitting R&B like Junior Wells, Ann Cole and Lee “Shot” Williams sides and others are a bit more playful like the side by the kiddie group The Rocky Fellers, the rowdy side by The LaSalles and the playful side by Ella Fitzgerald diagnosing the Beatles Fever that was sweeping the country.

Was definitely tempting to pull this mix further back and just scrape the early 60s but I always appreciate how charts and the cultural zeitgeist make it seem like music moves on but this is a resilient and powerful style sticks around, Slim Harpo’s Baby Scratch My Back was a hit in 1966 for example!

Looking promising I’ll be able to get back to a regular Friday posting of new Musical Episodes, trying to make some changes in my life so I can begin living a bit more and feeling hopeful that means I’ll have a little more time or at least motivation to spend with my hobbies, interests and passions outside of work.

Peace,

-George / Snack Attack
